MCHIP is USAID funded project working on immunization, Family planning and new born care in India. One of the activities of MCHIP is to work with the district authorities to improve immunization program management. In this context, MCHIP has developed a demo site in health facilities in Districts of Gonda, Banda and Varanasi in UP and Deoghar, Jamtara in Jharkhand. These demo sites focus on key immunization thematic areas like cold chain, injection safety, records and reports, programme management etc. The objective is to develop a health facility as model site which can be used for intra and inter district capacity building of workers and program managers. I am attaching a brief description of how these were developed and being now promoted as cross learning sites program managers other PHC in district. Yes, we are working with the cold chain handler to build their capacity to plan, forecast and manage vaccine and other logistics. This is work in progress and we will share the details later. A microplanning tool was developed and is being implemented to help plan the service delivery. The tool is used by Medical officer, ANM, cold chain handler, record and report handlers for planning.
