The idea of the changes is to simplify the sheets for the end users. proposed changes are - deletion of internal max and min temps from performance section - deletion of day night temps from performance section - moving of any power information from comments and accessories to the energy section. In addition but not shown on the proposed new sheet will be a picogram for the temperature zones to the left of the CFC picogram. We request that you kindly post the proposed changes on Technet Forum for comments. With thanks and regards Paul Mallins WHO, EPI Geneva ++ 41 22 791 32 93 [email protected] ___________________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT INFORMATION SHEETS The Product Information Sheets (PIS), provide general information on equipment, together with specific technical and purchasing data for individual selected items. It has been produced by the WHO Expanded Programme on Immunization of the department of Vaccines and Biologicals (V&B) in collaboration with the Supply Division of UNICEF (Copenhagen) regularly since 1979. The publication covers: * The standard selection of cold chain equipment for the storage, transport and administration of vaccines, * The selection of equipment for: - the collection and transport of stool specimens for the isolation of polio virus, and - for use in emergency campaigns - and for other primary health care initiatives An item to be included in the PIS must be independently tested and comply with the standard test procedures and be found to meet the established specification for performance. Standards for performance and testing of EPI equipment are contained in a separate WHO publication, the EPI Standard Performance Specifications and Test Procedures. ____________________________________*______________________________________ 2. PIS ON THE WEB Due to the current revision process of the PIS and the associated EPI Standard Equipment Specifications and Test Procedures manuals, the Product information sheets are not necessarily on the usual WHO web site. Below is a temporary web site where some of the PIS may be found- but it should be noted - this is a set of pages under construction and subject to change. ___________________________________________________________________________ From: [[email protected]][email protected][/email] Date: Thu, 23 Mar 2000 12:11:42 +0100 To: , Subject: Re:PIS on the WEB? Dear Allan, We decided to take the PIS and the Specs & Procs from the Document Center website to be able to update them as we received changes and have the most recent information on the WEB. Now they are both directly under the Vaccine Cold Chain site at the following address: http://www.who.int/vaccinesAccess/Restructuring/Vaccines/Vaccine_Quality/Vaccine_C old_Chain/Equipment/PIS/pissheets.htm I hope this helps Best regards, Valerie
