GVIRF

The Global Vaccine and Immunization Research Forum (GVIRF) is the central discussion platform of all research and innovation aspects related to the Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030). GVIRF serves as a forum to:

    • Track progress and discuss obstacles related to priority vaccine research and development (R&D);
    • Identify gaps, opportunities and actions for the R&D community in the areas of vaccines and immunization;
    • Create an opportunity for networking and collaboration among the vaccine R&D and immunization communities; and
    • Review progress made towards the IA2030 R&D strategic objectives and goals.

As endorsed by the IA2030 Leadership Council and the World Health Organization Strategic Advisory Group of Experts, research and innovation reporting for the IA2030 is conducted every two years by the GVIRF, with emphasis on:

    • Expanding capabilities of engagement with end-users,
    • Enabling development of new vaccines,
    • Accelerating development, licensing and update of vaccines, and
    • Improving programme efficiencies and increasing coverage.

GVIRF is co-hosted by the World Health Organization, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gathering leading experts from public health, academia, government, civil society and private sector, the GVIRF is held every second year.  The next meeting will be in early 2023.

Between GVIRF meetings, GVIRF Webinars are exploring late-breaking developments in specific topics, such as mRNA vaccine technologies and malaria vaccines.
