Improving healthcare delivery, especially in resource limited settings is a global priority. Africa Conference on Healthcare Delivery (AHD Conference) is conceived to promote local participation, innovation, continuous quality improvement and institutionalization of healthcare delivery in the African region, especially in the area of Supply Chain Management of health commodities. AHD conference provides a forum for practitioners/professionals within the region to network, exchange ideas and share experiences for improved performance (“south- to- south collaboration”). In addition, the meeting brings together leading international experts in the field of healthcare delivery to discuss new concepts and provide mentoring for young professionals and students. The pre-conference training workshops, which precede the main conference, are designed to train and build local capacity in Supply Chain Management and Global Health Delivery for professionals and students in key subject areas. The main focus of AHD Conference is to explore and provide an understanding of in-country health supply chain management and its impact on the overall healthcare system in Africa. The meeting seeks to promote local participation in in-country supply chain management, discuss local problems and solutions, the outcomes of which will be useful to the region and international audience.

The Ministry of Health, Montenegro and WHO/Europe will hold a South-eastern Europe health ministers’ meeting to discuss the importance of vaccination as a critical public health intervention and a public good. Recognizing the value immunization represents in terms of health, social and economic returns, the meeting will highlight the challenges and opportunities for Member States in the south-eastern European (SEE) region. SEE ministers of health will be invited to endorse a “statement of intent”, and the process of developing a regional roadmap, with specific strategic objectives and targets to improve the impact of national immunization programmes, will be initiated.

Short presentations and statements will set the scene before a roundtable discussion is co-chaired by the Minister of Health of Montenegro and the WHO Regional Director for Europe.

Objectives
Underline how strong national immunization systems are an integral part of a well-functioning health system and that immunization programmes benefit from integration in strong health systems through coordination with other programmes, the private sector, partners and communities to deliver existing and introduce new vaccines, ensure vaccination throughout the life-course and attain quality, equity and coverage goals;

End-to-end supply chain and logistics systems are key components of successful immunization programs. However, in Nigeria, supply chain and logistics systems have encountered numerous challenges particularly on the supply side, such as incomplete and inadequate data on commodity turnover and late deliveries to primary health centers (PHCs). To address these challenges, eHealth Africa (eHA) in close collaboration with the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KPHCMB) developed the Logistics Management Information System (LoMIS). This webinar will share how the LoMIS is being used to support reliable vaccine delivery service to last-mile health facilities in Northern Nigeria’s Kano State, covering 386 health facilities across 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs). The presenter will highlight the milestones to date, challenges encountered, and the lessons learned from this innovative initiative.

This webinar should be of interest to both technical and non-technical health information managers with an interest in vaccine delivery and logistics management for immunization programs.

The 2017 World Health Organization vaccination coverage survey Scholars and their course team request the honor of your company at the Commencement Exercises to be held online on Wednesday, 24 January 2018.

Date: 24 January 2018
Time: 15h00 (3 PM) UTC+1 Geneva
Registration link: https://bit.ly/surveyscholar17
Contact: surveys@learning.foundation

This event will be broadcast on Facebook Live and YouTube, so you are encouraged to download the invitation and share it with your colleagues and professional networks. Family members and friends are also welcome to attend.

This event will feature presentations from Survey Scholar participants and the course team. You are encouraged to join if you have an interest in vaccination coverage surveys and/or in new approaches to learning and capacity-building.

Please do not delay with your own registration as the event can welcome a limited number of participants.

Over 17 weeks, Survey Scholars engaged in weekly Internet-based group discussion and presentation, self-study, and weekly assignments to develop the following projects: 1) a survey concept note, 2) the review of a draft vaccination coverage survey protocol and the write-up of the sampling section of a protocol; and 3) a write-up of the results and interpretation, discussion (with limitations), conclusion and recommendations of a survey report; or the analysis of survey data (those in the “analyst track”).

WHO’s Survey Scholar initiative not only supports the development of technical competencies, but also leadership and critical thinking, using the Scholar Approach, developed by the University of Illinois College of Education and the Geneva Learning Foundation. This approach combines community of practice, knowledge co-construction, and peer review to support project-based learning. It was first piloted in 2016 by WHO to support country-level action planning based on the Global Routine Immunization Strategies and Practices (GRISP) guidelines.
