With a lifesaving malaria vaccine on the horizon, policymakers will need vital information from researchers to plan for its introduction, but all too frequently a gap in communication between the two results in slow decision-making. The PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) helps to bridge the worlds of science and policymaking by developing a cadre of malaria vaccine advocates.  MVI's Malaria Vaccine Advocacy Fellowship trains researchers to be "policy champions" who will help to ensure that when it becomes available, a vaccine will reach the people who need it the most.

A movie, produced for the 10th year anniversary of the introduction of vaccine vial monitors (VVM). FIVE SENSES focuses on how this simple tool expands the horizon of the immunization programme and empowers health workers serving people at the very periphery of the health system. The theme and the goal are specific but there are scenes, human conditions, different livings for everybody to see and think about them. Shot in Niger, Vietnam and Indonesia in 2007.

One of the greatest privileges of working in global health is the chance to see the impact that advances like vaccines can have in people's lives. It doesn't always come easily. Developing a new drug or vaccine can take many years, involve many setbacks, and require close collaboration with many partners. But when it works, it's glorious.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is doing all it can to fight the Ebola outbreak in Monrovia, Liberia, including rapid scaling up of its facilities in order to treat the growing number of patients. The health care system is overwhelmed in Monrovia - some health workers have died and some have fled. Medical facilities are far too overstretched and people are suffering from a lack of health care, not just for Ebola, but also for all other medical needs.
