Achieving MDG4

Millennium Development Goal 4 (MDG 4) calls for reducing the under-five mortality rate by two-thirds between 1990 and 2015. Progress in achieving this indicator is monitored as part of the Countdown 2015 initiative and measured by the independent Expert Review Group (iERG), based on the recommendations of the Commission on Information and Accountability of the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health. Data are presented for the 75 Countdown nations with high child mortality rates, for the period 1990 to 2015.
