The WHO is launching the new web-based and mobile-based equipment Inventory and Gap Analysis (IGA) application. Join us in a webinar to learn how this application can ease up the burden of maintaining an updated cold chain equipment inventory and generate reports to identify where there are capacity gaps. This session will introduce you to the different functionalities of IGA and will provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences of current users.

The webinar will be held on 15th December at 10:00 AM Geneva time (CET).

Dear Maricel, thank you for the availability of the presentation, this topic about the cold chain equipments inventory is relevant.Very kindly I want to do the next questions. Could you show the reports with the number of the facilitys in all the country? Is it possible to have how many ILR, SDD, solar with batteries, freezers and cold rooms there are by district and total? Is it possible to put on a map this reports using apps like ArcGis or Google maps? With this reports could Georgia proyect the shipment of vaccines to every facility or every district, taking in account the movement of biologicals? How is the obsolescence of the cold chain in Georgia?

Best regards

Dear Rafael,

Thank you for your comment and interest in IGA.

Let me reply to your questions.

  1. In IGA the number of facilities is available with the following data related to each facility based on the specific requirements each country:
    1. Types of the facility
    2. Facilities location (GPS)
    3. Facility’s ownership
    4. General or under 1 population served by the facility
    5. All types and number of equipment exist in the facility
    6. Address (including phone number, email, etc.)
    7. Number and types of staff in the facility
    8. Existing source of power available in the facility
    9. And many other minor and less essential fields related to facilities
  2. We cannot share the data with anyone as the data belongs to the country and is considered to be confidential, except when we have permission from the county to share and publish the data.
  3. The report of numbers and types of cold chain equipment, and for that matter all other class of equipment is readily available by country, region, province, district and facility levels.
  4. The facilities are already located on the Google Map with as precise as the user would like to have them located. The IGA data can be exported to Excel so it is possible to upload it in ArcGIS but we have not tried doing this  yet.
  5. IGA is not a stock management tool. It is an inventory tool for fixed assets that are not consumable.  For consumables (vaccines, medicines, injection equipment, etc. there are other tools you can use such as the “web-based Vaccination Supplies Stock Management” (VSSM) and the "Stock Management Tool" (SMT) developed by UNICEF.
  6. We cannot respond to your question about “obsolescence of cold chain equipment in Georgia.” I suggest you contact Dr. Irakli Gabosonia, EPI Manager, Georgia and ask him directly: [email protected].

I hope I have replied to all your questions.  Once again, thank you for your message and for your interest in IGA.

Dear Maricel,

I would like to understand if countries can start using the new cold chain inventory tool? Ministry of Health needs to update the national cold chain equipment inventory so they are interested in using the new tool. If so please share the tool.

Regards

Thato

Hello,

I am Charly Etienne LOUEMBET, Supply and Logistics Manager at the Expanded Programme on Immunisation of the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Congo.

We have acquired cold chain equipment between 2018 and 2021 respectively in the framework of the RSS-Gavi and CCEOP.

The inventory and gap analysis tool in our possession dates from 2017; we would like to obtain a more recent version to update our inventory.

In the meantime, thank you.

My email is [email protected]

Sincerely.

WHO AFRO is organizing a webinar to introduce the WHO IGA tool to AFRO countries and partners on 13 July and another webinar to introduce the WHO tool for immunization session planning based on local wastage data on 22 July. Please watch out for the TechNet announcement regarding these webinars. I encourage you to join these as during the webinars we will be identifying which countries will use the tools so that country in-depth training can be planned accordingly.

Kind regards,

Maricel

Hello colleagues,

Is the IGA tool actvely in use by other countries in addition to Georgia? If so wanted to hear from colleagues about your experience and the processes for adopting it.

On a side note, I wonder if countries are using the old spreadsheet   - CCE inventory and gap analysis tool?
