Greetings, 

A new blog is available on openlmis.org, presenting an exciting collaboration between OpenLMIS and Nexleaf Analytics to incorporate remote temperature monitoring (RTM) data into the OpenLMIS logistics software: http://openlmis.org/integrating-cold-chain-data-openlmis-collaboration-nexleaf-analytics/

This collaboration allows anyone adopting OpenLMIS and utilizing any RTM system to have an informed view of the cold chain status alongside their core vaccine stock and delivery data. 

Integrating data systems can reduce data entry, improve data quality and usability, and accelerate insight generation. Combining datasets from different sources provides new opportunities for analysis and insight into the supply chain and streamlines processes for health workers and decision-makers alike. The interfaces developed by OpenLMIS and Nexleaf are open and standards based. This means that any provider of RTM hardware or data analysis systems will be able to integrate with OpenLMIS using the interfaces being developed by this project. This work is designed to benefit all manufacturers and providers of RTM hardware and software systems.

Hello!

It is great to see your interest in RTM and data integration. In our experience, data integration and streamlining is key to successful implementation of data-driven immunization systems. We agree that managing 3 separate data platforms would be very difficult.

To answer your question, yes, different RTM platforms and LMIS (logistics management information system) systems can be harmonized (does Myanmar current have one or developing an LMIS?). Doing so requires similar steps to what is described in this article. For an individual country, a way to start is by working with manufacturers to draw out a workflow of the data from the different RTMs to your LMIS. LMIS and RTM platform engineers understand these challenges and can help you to plan. This process should not be burdensome to the country.

In general, the way to harmonize RTM from different systems is to have each RTM system send core indicators and notifications to a common information system, such as an LMIS. The way RTM data was integrated with Open LMIS can be globally applicable, and different RTM platforms and different LMIS platforms can be harmonized. This requires that RTM manufacturers make software interfaces (also called APIs) available so that data can be sent from the manufacturer’s servers into a common platform managed by the country.

Thanks alot for the very important post , the harmonization of RTMs in a platform , I think, is of a priroty for countries in the admist of step by step progress of RTM. In Myanmar supply chain, the programme utilized Smart-view for WIC/WIF and is planning to introduce RTM for sub-depots (refrigerators) with Nexleaf. In the future, the B-Medical products will also offer data logger in the solar refrigerators (100% of new product in 2018). In that case, we need to utilize 3 platforms (smart-view, B-Medical and Nexleaf) to monitor the RTM reports, which i see is very odd to have three RTM in a country.

My question is can the openLMIS harmonize those RTMs in a single platform using the interface and how feasible it is and how much effort is needed to ensure that harmonization of the system in a single platform.
