HOT TOPICS

New Technical Advisory Bulletin!

We are excited to announce the publication of a new Technical Advisory Bulletin (TAB) in the AIRA Repository: Returning IIS Patient Immunization Record Information in a Z32 and Z42 RSP. This TAB reviews expectations for IIS responses in Z32 and Z42 RSP messages, outlining what information should be included or excluded when a single patient match is found. For example, IIS should return “completed” immunizations but must not return “deleted” immunizations. The TAB harmonizes and clarifies guidance in alignment with the National IG and IIS Functional Guide, emphasizing minimal necessary data return and excluding sensitive information. It covers IIS patient demographic and vaccination event record information but excludes QBP message processing errors, Z31 and Z33 RSP messages, and structure and formatting of immunization evaluation and forecasting information. Visit the AIRA Repository to access this comprehensive TAB and ensure your systems align with these updated guidelines.

Smarty Updates to County Data

Smarty has informed us of changes impacting its data due to a recent USPS update, which now reflects the new county-equivalents announced by the Census Bureau.

Connecticut has replaced its previous eight counties with nine new county equivalents, and Smarty has updated its data accordingly. Entities that continue to use the older county data may face challenges. Therefore, Smarty recommends all clients update their integrations to use the new county equivalents, as they will be the standard in Connecticut going forward.
