DESCRIPTION:Background\nThe Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (PIP) Framework was adopted by the Sixty-fourth World Health Assembly on 24 May 2011, following an extensive intergovernmental process that began in 2007. Recognizing the global threat posed by influenza pandemics, Member States developed this innovative mechanism to ensure timely virus sharing and equitable access to benefits, such as vaccines, antivirals, and diagnostics. \nThe PIP Framework is the first and only global access and benefit-sharing system for public health.
