iSC strengthening - technical resources

Dan Brigden

In 2014, the Gavi Alliance partners developed the Gavi Immunization Supply Chains (iSC) Strategy focusing on strengthening country immunization supply chains. From the port of entry to the immunization in clinics, the supply chain is critical to ensure potent vaccines are available to the beneficiaries in an efficient manner. The strategy is built on five fundamentals essential to strengthen the performance of immunization supply chains. This page provides a list of key resources, organised by these fundamentals.

Through the Gavi iSC Strategy, national immunization managers, implementing partners and other immunization supply chain experts will gain access to targeted technical assistance and guidance documents, tools, case stories and other material that can help them improve immunization supply chains in countries.

Supply Chain Data for Management

The aim of the Data for Management (D4M) approach is to make it easier for health workers and supply chain managers to collect, analyze, visualize and use data for decision-making.

Supply Chain System Design

System Design is a process which creates the plan, or blueprint, for how the immunization supply chain should run, including how all of the components of the supply chain system (program requirements, distribution network, storage, human resources, equipment, planning, monitoring, and data) fit together and interact.

Supply Chain Leadership

Next-generation immunisation supply chains require dedicated and competent managers as well as adequate numbers of skilled, accountable, motivated and empowered personnel at all levels of the health system. The Vaccine Alliance helps countries strengthen and build supply chain managers’ capacity by providing focused technical assistance, tools, training and other resources.
