Ressource Communicating about Vaccine Safety: Guidelines to help health workers communicate with parents, caregivers, and patients
Objectif (a) To provide tools to support effective communication between health personnel and the general population, with the aim of strengthening, maintaining or recovering trust in vaccines and the immunization programs.
(b) To better understand the reasons that lead people to decide not to get vaccinated or not to vaccinate their children, in order to tailor messages and initiate a two-way dialogue based on respect.
Contenu Factors that influence the decision to vaccinate, the spectrum of vaccine hesitancy, communication strategies, strategies to improve the vaccination experience, frequently asked questions and key messages about vaccines against influenza, human papilloma virus, and measles, and COVID-19, debunking false information and misconceptions about vaccines, how to communicate about adverse events, communicating with vaccine-hesitant colleagues.
Résultats attendus (a) More effective communication between health personnel and the general population.
(b) Improved trust in vaccines and immunization programs by the population and health workers.
Forces Comprehensive overview of the main concepts, messages and strategies for building confidence in vaccination amongst the community and amongst health workers.
Contraintes/Limitations The guidelines are clear on concepts, messages and strategies but requires additional guidance on research methods for collecting and analysing information on vaccine hesitancy.
Pourquoi l'utiliser (a) To improve interpersonal communication between health workers and individuals (patients, parents, caregivers, or children).
(b) To increase vaccine acceptance.
Qui devrait l'utiliser Program managers, project managers, researchers, and health providers. Should also be used for any persons/agencies involved in immunization communication.
