Brazilian experience with rapid monitoring of vaccn. coverage (rubella elimination campaign)
The study concludes that the use of rapid coverage monitoring clearly contributed to the success of the national vaccination campaign to eliminate rubella and congenital rubella syndrome in Brazil. Despite concerns about local capacity to conduct monitoring with limited instruction, local monitoring helped identify pockets of unvaccinated individuals and, by helping to guide \"mop-up\" activities, contributed to higher vaccination coverage overall. As other countries implement mass vaccination strategies for accelerated control and elimination of rubella and congenital rubella syndrome, consideration should be given to monitoring progress toward vaccination targets at the local level.
