Communication method preference for patient reminders
Objectives: To report on type of communication method selected by 19-26 year old women who have enrolled in a larger study evaluating the effect of patient reminders on HPV vaccination completion. Materials: This study is a part of a larger randomized control trial currently underway assessing the role of patient reminders on HPV vaccination completion rates. To date- 176 participants at ten geographically diverse sites across the U.S. have been randomized to the intervention arm. These participants receive reminders informing them when it is time to return for additional vaccine doses/ patients in the control arm do not receive reminders. At present women are returning for their 2nd and 3rd vaccine doses. Participants are given the opportunity to select the type of reminder they would like to receive from several communication modalities (automated telephone call- text message- email- mail or private Facebook message). Chi square tests were used to assess the factors associated with selecting these methods.
