Parliamentarians Unite for Immunization Financing in Africa and Asia Resulting in the Istanbul Call to Action

In April 2025, 21 Members of Parliament from across Africa and Asia met in Istanbul to champion sustainable immunization financing in their countries. The two-day forum, organized by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) with support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, ended with the Istanbul Call to Action.

This article explains why parliamentarians, through their roles in budgets, oversight and representing their constituents, are key to closing immunization funding gaps.
