Technical Brief on Country Decision-Making Factors: Expanding the Target Population for HPV Vaccination.
The Coalition to Strengthen the HPV Immunization Community (CHIC) fosters a broad, interdisciplinary community of practice interested in the primary prevention of cervical cancer, comprising EPI programme leadership and scientists from across Gavi-eligible countries and beyond. In 2025, CHIC directed its Secretariat to summarize common questions, and the state of the evidence for each, to support countries who are considering the idea of expanding HPV vaccination routine eligibility beyond the primary target of girls aged 9-14, resulting in this technical briefer focused on supporting the country-level decision-maker, released in February 2026.
