Addressing Urban Immunization Needs in Gavi Full Portfolio Planning and Related Immunization Plans: A Practical Guide

The world is facing fast-paced urbanization, with more than half of the world’s population currently living in urban areas. These urban areas are quite heterogeneous, comprising city dwellers, urban suburbs or slums, and informal settlements. Improving immunization coverage and reducing inequities are key outputs of the global Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) and the UNICEF’s immunization road map. This document addresses some of the practical issues in Gavi Full Portfolio Planning and related country proposals and planning, bringing out the nuances of immunization in urban and peri-urban settings.
