I have read in the Global Immunization Newsletter - July 2026 a special feature with the title Digital tools and WUENIC: strengthening immunization data for better decision-making, leading to the TechNet page https://www.technet-21.org/en/community/blogs-newsletters/q-a.
There, it can be read:
"At national and subnational level digital tools strengthen immunization programmes by transforming data from a delayed reporting product into a near real-time management resource. HMIS, EIRs, LMIS, and GIS improve timeliness, completeness, accuracy, validation, analysis, and use of immunization data, enabling health workers and programme managers to make faster and better-informed decisions to improve vaccination coverage and equity".
In my view, these are very strong claims that would need some evidence to substantiate... something. I fully understand that this is not an academic setting and that we have to accept some flexibility in the concepts and language. It is true that the same page contains issues related to challenges. However, either we moderate the language to portray a more balanced representation of the reality in many places or then we provide the evidence that would allow readers to make their own judgements. Wouldn't that help us run longer distances?
