Pleased to share that the Springer Nature book, AI for Epidemic Preparedness: Innovations and Insights from the Global South, has now been published.

Chapter contribution: Equity-Centered AI for Immunization in Humanitarian Settings: Opportunities and Ethical Dilemmas

This chapter explores how artificial intelligence can support immunization programmes in humanitarian and fragile settings, while keeping equity, ethics, responsible implementation, data justice, and frontline realities at the centre.

The chapter draws on key field experience from Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Liberia, including lessons from outbreak response, immunization delivery, surveillance, and health-system constraints in complex operating environments.

Happy to have collaborated with Emmanuel Odanye and Adaora Odis on this contribution.

For immunization programmes, the key message is clear: AI can add value only when it is designed around the realities of health workers, communities, data systems, and decision-makers in the settings where the need is greatest.
