The second edition of the short course on “Access-To-Medicines Supply Chain Re-Design” was held from October 2nd-6th, 2017 in Nairobi (first one was held in Kigali).
The 25+ participants, equally representing Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Ugunda, South-Soudan and Tanzania, debated via the academic input on both new theoretical and modeling insights as well as they shared their experiences in the vaccines supply chains. Critical last miles issues and synchronization between physical, financial and information flow turned out to be key. Five facilitators from three universities: Stany Banzimana (University of Rwanda), Kefa Bosire and Shital Maru (University of Nairobi) and Catherine Decouttere and Nico Vandaele (KU Leuven), facilitated the course. Special support for this course was executed by GSK.
Three of the instructors will be joining at Technet in Lisbon:
- Stany Banzimana, together with Jean d’Amour Habagusenga will be present on behalf of the EAC Regional Centre of Excellence (RCE) for Vaccines, Immunization and Health Supply Chain Management (VIHSCM) in the ‘Enablers’ stream.
- You can find Catherine Decouttere and Nico Vandaele of KU Leuven mostly in the rooms of the ‘Efficiency’ track.
