This is a bittersweet announcement. My boss, colleague, mentor, and friend Souleymane ('Solo') Kone, logistician extraordinaire, is retiring at the end of this month. He is far too modest to mark the event, and would likely slip quietly away into the Malian sunset if he was permitted to do so...

But the impact of Solo's work in strengthening immunization programmes worldwide has been such that some recognition is necessary. Over the past 25 years, Solo has worked tirelessly to strengthen immunization supply chains across the world, from cold chain expansion, new vaccine introduction, emergency response, HR, stock management, waste management, tools, guidance, training... you name it, Solo has helped to improve it. His influence will live on in countless projects. His loss will be keenly felt.

So it falls to me to share this sad news with the TechNet community, but also to celebrate Solo's work and his lasting impact. I thought I would do by sharing a few photos of his many…
