Country Learning Hub Spotlights: Reflections on Identifying and Reaching Zero-Dose Children

Tuesday, April 16 | 8:00 AM EDT

As we prepare for World Immunization Week later this month, the JSI-led Zero-Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) honors the work accomplished over the past 50 years through EPI while reflecting on the work we have left to do to ensure all children are protected from vaccine-preventable deaths.

We invite you to join the ZDLH for an interactive webinar on Tuesday, April 16 featuring immunization leaders from four Country Learning Hubs (CLHs) in Bangladesh, Mali, Nigeria, and Uganda. Presenters will share their experiences using innovative methods to identify and reach ZD children and missed communities. The presenters will describe how each CLH is continuing the EPI’s legacy by working to close the immunization gap.

Webinar attendees will discover:

- Effective strategies for identifying ZD children and the root causes behind missed vaccinations.

- Successes and challenges encountered by the CLHs in their rapid assessments.

- Actionable insights to improve your own immunization programs and policies to more accurately identify and reach ZD children.

What Works? A New Era in Malaria Prevention

Tuesday, April 30 | 9:00 AM EDT

Malaria control and elimination efforts focus on multi-pronged approaches that include insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor insecticide spraying, seasonal chemoprevention, and timely testing and treatment. The WHO recommended the first malaria vaccine in 2021 as part of the Malaria Vaccine Implementation Programme in Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi. Today, the vaccine rollout is imminent in countries around the world.

While much has been learned about new vaccine introductions in the past 15 years, there are always unexpected challenges. The vaccine has shown to be a potentially powerful tool in malaria prevention, but successful rollout and sustained implementation require partnership between EPI and national malaria control programs, communities, and other public and private partners.

Join JSI immunization and malaria prevention, control, and treatment experts as the world prepares for a new era in malaria prevention.
