Recently a new peer-reviewed, open-access journal Vaccine Insights published a viewpoint Lessons learned in the transportation of healthcare products by drones. This article is based on an interview with my VillageReach colleagues in the Democratic Republic of Congo Dr. Archimède Makaya, Drones Program Manager, and Louis Tshituka, Team Lead, Monitoring & Evaluation. The article highlights how drones can increase equitable access to vaccines, as well as how to increase cost-effectiveness when using drones to get products to people.
