March is flying by, and AIRA’s March Discovery Session will be here before you know it. Register today and join us Monday, March 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. ET for a preview of the updated IIS Functional Standards.

CDC has engaged the Public Health Informatics Institute (PHII) and other members of the IIS community to participate in a project to update the IIS Functional Standards. This effort is undertaken periodically to ensure the Functional Standards remain relevant and achievable in maintaining effective, efficient, and scalable IIS.

During this session, you’ll hear about:

  • The project approach, objectives, and recommended changes
  • The 2024 Functional Standards, expected to be released in the near future

There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the webinar.

Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email which contains links to add the meeting to your calendar. If you’re unable to attend, this session will be recorded and available in the AIRA repository.

Open Information Requests

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and their IIS team would like to hear from other jurisdictions that have monetized their HEDIS process, specifically about the approval process and the process that put that fee structure in place. Additionally, they are interested in understanding how other IIS handle the fee submissions and any responses/pushback received from health plans once the process was put in place.

Improving Immunization Interoperability Between Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Public Health

Despite adoption of health information technology among health care providers and public health support for standards-based immunization data exchange, there is a lack of interoperability between post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) EHRs and IIS.

The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA) partnered with AIRA to create two new resources that address issues and recommendations for EHR/IIS interoperability. The first summarizes the challenges to interoperability and provides specific recommendations. The second aims to advance connectivity between PALTC EHRs and IIS by serving as a guide for EHR vendors to ensure technical readiness for exchange with IIS. It outlines five keys to connectivity to support long-term care EHR vendor technical readiness for immunization data exchange.

IDAN, Your Go-To Data Analyst Network

Have you ever wanted to touch base with another data analyst about a project you’re working on? Do you have questions you’d like to discuss with someone else with immunization data experience? Do you wonder how other immunization staff are analyzing data that’s similar to yours?

Well, the IIS Data Analyst Network (IDAN) is here for you. Join us for the IDAN kick-off meeting on April 25! You won't want to miss your chance to meet your match.

AIRA is expanding and relaunching a peer pairing project that matches up data analysts from different IIS. Originally known as Epi Connect, this program will match you with someone in the data analyst community and offer a structured way to build a professional connection. You might even make a new friend!

  • What is the IIS Data Analyst Network: IDAN is a program in which AIRA pairs IIS data analysts across the community to provide professional peer support.
  • Who can join: Anyone who extracts, analyzes, interprets, visualizes, reports out, or interacts with IIS data.
  • How to join: Simply tell us more about yourself and register for the kick-off meeting on April 25, from 2 to 3 p.m. ET. During this meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to meet your match and engage with other data analysts.
  • What happens after I’m paired: AIRA will hold quarterly virtual meet-ups for IDAN participants. Between meetings, you will receive topics and prompts to facilitate connecting with your match. You can also log in and chat in an IDAN-exclusive space within AIRA’s online forum for data analysts.
