AIRA Weekly Update | October 4, 2023

OCTOBER 4, 2023

Greetings and happy October!

In case you missed it, we kicked off October by opening the call for abstracts and registration for the AIRA 2024 National Meeting! We hope you can join us May 7–9 in Orlando, Florida, as we continue our work together to ensure healthy communities. This year’s National Meeting will be held at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, an official Walt Disney World hotel, conveniently connected by a footbridge to Disney Springs. With this location, you will find many restaurants and stores just a quick on-property walk away, making things easy and convenient!

In September, the AIRA 2022 Annual Report was released. This report provides a comprehensive, easily digestible overview of all things AIRA.

AIRA attended several meetings in September. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met twice this month. During the meeting that was held on September 12, COVID-19 vaccine

recommendations for the 2023–2024 season and the role of the Bridge Access Program were discussed. The second meeting was held on September 22 to discuss RSVpreF maternal vaccination.

On September 13–14, I attended the Public Health Law Conference in Washington, D.C., along with several community members. The National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) meeting was held September 21–22. During this meeting I gave a brief update on AIRA’s support for the RSV vaccine rollout as well as ways AIRA is working to enhance IIS data quality and address verification. And lastly for meetings this month, Mary Beth Kurilo and I both attended the CDC Health Data Innovation Summit September 27–28. The summit was an opportunity to hear from the CDC’s Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance and Technology (OPHDST) team on its work to enable a public health data infrastructure within the agency.

If you have not had a chance, I encourage you to check out the September edition of SnapShots. If you or a colleague are working on something you would like to share with the IIS community, submit an article for consideration in the December edition of SnapShots.
