CoNaIn (Argentina) recommends moving forward in the development of a matrix that contributes to the analysis for an eventual implementation of a national vaccination strategy at the departmental level in areas of high viral circulation. This would include vaccination in young adults, surveillance of vaccine safety, cost-effectiveness studies and development of a matrix of evaluation that considers all the indicators of the integrated management strategy to prevention of dengue (EGI-dengue). More information from the meeting minutes.

RSV:

  • NIAC (Irish NITAG) issued recommendations for passive immunization and vaccination against respiratory syncytial virus in infants, children and older adults, available here.
  • The Latvian NITAG recommended long lasting RSV antibodies for infants up to 8 months in the season.
  • CoNaIn recommends considering carrying out an epidemiological analysis of the viral circulation in the different regions of the country, in order to understand the pattern of RSV circulation, as well as the duration of antibodies and associated costs. This should help determine whether the vaccination strategy in pregnant people It should be limited to one season or cover the entire cohort of pregnant people. CoNaIn agrees to recommend the combined strategy of vaccinating people pregnant women and the use of Niservimab. More information from the meeting minutes.

TBE:

  • The Latvian NITAG recommended introduction of TBE in NIP, with a 10 year interval for the following TBE vaccine booster doses after the 4th dose, independent of age. More information in the minutes here.

COVID-19 vaccines:

  • ATAGI issued recommendations on use of the Moderna and Pfizer monovalent Omicron XBB.1.5 COVID-19 vaccines, available here.
  • CAVEI (Chile) issued recommendation to update the vaccination strategy against COVID-19 by 2024, available here.

Useful resource:

  • The Robert Koch institute developed "truth sandwiches" to debunk immunization misinformation, available in English. RKI - Immunisation - Vaccination myths: Effectively debunking misinformation

Truth sandwich is a technique in journalism to cover stories involving misinformation without unintentionally furthering the spread of false or misleading clams. It entails presenting the truth about a subject before covering misinformation, then ending a story by again presenting truth.

SAGE:

  • The report from the September SAGE meeting has been published in the Weekly Epidemiological Record, in addition to the publication of the Covid Good Practice Statement and the Roadmap.
  • SAGE team developed a search tool for SAGE agenda items onto the website that is actually quite powerful for finding meetings, reports and background materials from SAGE according to topics and sub-topics. It covers more than 20 years of SAGE history!
  • The next SAGE meeting will be on March 11-14th 2024.

Wishing you quality time with your loved ones during the end of year holidays!

Best wishes,

Louise
