Immunization @JSI: Committed to Strengthening Routine Immunization

JULY 2023

Immunization @ JSI

Efforts to address historic backsliding in immunization continue and are starting to make progress. In 2022, 4 million more children received immunization services than the previous year. Despite progress toward the “Big Catch Up,” of the 20.5 million who missed one or more doses of their diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccines in 2022, 14.3 million did not receive a single dose (referred to as ‘zero-dose’ children). This is an improvement from the 18.1 million zero-dose children in 2021, but is higher than the 12.9 million in 2019.

JSI remains committed to supporting country and global efforts to focus on recovery and system strengthening efforts in routine immunization. This newsletter highlights some of our work.
