PAHO launches digital forecasting tool to strengthen vaccine demand planning

pAHO past meetingThe PAHO Revolving Fund for Access to Vaccines (RFV) launched a new digital demand planning platform to Member States in Latin America and the Caribbean during a regional workshop held on 4-6 July in Panama City. The new digital demand planning module aims to replace the current excel-based demand tool and update the way member states plan and forecast their vaccine requirements.

The workshop's main objectives were:
(1) strengthening the demand planning process, and
(2) revitalizing the solidarity and technical cooperation among Member States and PAHO.

By providing an overview of supply chain management concepts, procurement processes, and vaccine market dynamics, the workshop equipped participants with the necessary skills to enhance their technical understanding and accuracy in demand forecasting.

The launch of the digital demand planning module is a pivotal step in PAHO's digital transformation journey, optimizing the demand forecasting process by enabling real-time information exchange. It is part of a broader vision to create a digital ecosystem that encompasses various critical operational processes with the goal of expanding the digitization to financial planning, procurement, and shipment tracking in the near future.
