Dear TechNet members, Good News! The TechNet-21 website is being upgraded next week. The new website will look nicer, work better on mobile devices, be better organised, and will provide a more powerful platform for partners to share information with the global immunization community. The changes will also enable individual communities of practice to be more easily established and managed. We are excited about the improvements that are coming and hope you will be, too.

The TechNet-21 website will be taken offline at 22:00 CET on Sunday, 20 November and will be offline for up to 24 hours while we make the necessary changes. We will let you know (on the TechNet forum and on social media) as soon as the new website is up and running.

That's all, folks. Have a great weekend.

Dear Dan,

Long overdue, but I want to congratulate the Secretariat on the way they are using, supporting and enhancing TechNet. I had the great privilege of introducing the concept of an electronic Network to the annual physical TechNet meeting in Cyprus in the late 1980’s. While I made the presentation, the idea came from John Lloyd. John always had more ideas than he could handle and so some of us helped out.

The EPI was very fast moving at that time, though now it must seem to have been quite simple, based on the current level of activities and achievements. The intended purpose was to enable the EPI to take greater advantage of the tremendous knowledge and skills of the EPI staff worldwide. You are achieving this brilliantly.

Trying to move things forward as fast as necessary, while getting as much input as possible, was challenging and limited. Things did get done, and in my opinion done very well, but clearly taking greater advantage of the huge talent pool and experience would have been better, and is now much better.

Well past my prime, I am in awe of where the EPI is now, and how it has stayed consistently ahead of all other public health programs. TechNet is the core of the success. Bravo

Peter

Thanks Peter and Amjad for the kind words. TechNet was a wonderful idea; I just hope we have done it justice with these recent changes.

We are very happy to announce that the new website is now LIVE :-) Please take a look and share your thoughts (good or bad). We are aware of a few issues already but are working hard to fix every bug as soon as we encounter them. Hope you like it.
