18 March 2005

Vladimir Petrovic (mailto:[email protected]) from Serbia-Montenegro has sent
the following request
_____________________________________
Dear colleagues,
I would like to start discussion regarding the following situation.
It is possible that a patient, for whom post-exposure active and passive
protection is indicated, does not visit the doctor immediately after
injury. Instead the patient comes after several days.
I would like you to provide me with answers on the following question
regarding this situation.
What is the maximum time interval between the moment of injury and the
beginning of passive protection and active immunization of the patient in
order to prevent following diseases; rabies, tetanus, hepatitisB?
If possible provide me with some references.
Vladimir Petrovic,
Institute of Public Health Novi Sad, Serbia
Department of epidemiology
