POST 01131E : TEMPERATURE MONITORING DEVICES - REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Follow-up on Post 01123E 30 July 2007 ____________________________________ In response to Idrissa Yalcouyé’s request, [log in to unmask]">Terry [log in to unmask]">Hart from India points out that he made presentations at two separate meetings during the last year, in Mexico and Panama. [log in to unmask]">Sophie [log in to unmask]">Newland, from PATH, then sent his presentation made at the PATH-UNICEF/TACRO meeting in Panama City, along with another by [log in to unmask]">John [log in to unmask]">Lloyd. For convenience, these three rather heavy slideshows will be hosted temporarily as Sophie suggested, on the TechNet website. You can download them from these following links: New- Temperature-Monitoring- Devices by Terry Hart (850Kb) Cold-Rooms- and-Effective-Vaccine-Store-Management (EVSM) by Terry Hart (2.3Mb) Vaccine-Monitoring-Tools by John Lloyd (1.5Mb) ----------------- [log in to unmask]">Soren [log in to unmask]">Spanner, from UNICEF/India has sent the specifications of the temperature monitoring device shown in the presentations that appears to correspond to what Idrissa is looking for. It is available from UNICEF Supply Division. Finally [log in to unmask]">Henrique Menezes d'Alva, from WHO Angola has a suggestion. ____________________________________ Dear all, We made presentation on cold chain monitoring devices at the workshop/training held in Panama /Mexico in 2006. Someone from Haiti attended these sessions. Please advise if you would like for me to send the ppt. Many thanks and best regards Terry ---------------- Hello Claude, John, Terry, We have not posted the presentations from the Panama City workshop on the PATH website. I have been told it will take at minimum 3 weeks to do this. So, this may be something that would best be posted through TECHNET or WHO/IVB website. I attach Terry's presentation on Cold Rooms and EVSM. It has 2-3 slides discussing computer monitoring of cold rooms. I also attach John's presentation on temperature monitoring tools, which also has a few slides on cold room monitoring devices. These presentations would be a nice complement to the Multilog specs, I imagine. Cheers, Sophie ------------------------- This is available from UNICEF Supply Division Soren Spanner Project Officer Cold Chain Health Section, UNICEF, India Country Office, New Delhi, India 0002122 Data logger, temp., Multilog,12 sensors 08 COLD CHAIN EQUIPMENT 80 Thermomet/indicators 00 price: $2119.21 General Description: Temperature data logger with 12 sensors. Technical Specifications: The MULTiLOG is a temperature data logger that connects to a PC and is capable of recording a total of 2,000 readings per sensor at user determined time intervals. Microprocessor: CMOS 16 bit, high accuracy 14 bit A/D. Temperature range: -30°C to +70°C (-22°F to +158°F). Overall accuracy: ±0.2°C (at 0°C). Resolution: ±0.1°C. Recording time interval: 1 to 60 minutes. Memory capacity: 2000 readings per sensor. Sensors: RT curve matched thermistors. Minimum computer requirements: Pentium PC 400 + MHz with 32+ Mbyte RAM. 1 free PCI expansion slot. Sound & speakers. Microsoft Windows 95 or 98. (Colour printer recommended). Features include: Data logging even when the PC is switched off. Windows software allowing current temperatures to be displayed on-screen (updated every 30 seconds). Temperature data is automatically logged, downloaded and stored. Tables and graphs can be viewed on-screen or printed on demand. Current teperatures for all locations at once may be viewed on-screen at any time. Built-in audiable alarm. Individual high/low limits and alarm delays can be set for each sensor. The sensors can be configured as digital sensors i.e. Open/Shut, On/Off for example, to indicate whether doors are open or closed at the time temperatures were recorded. Software controls the configuration of the MULTiLOG and printing of temperature reports. The monitor can be wall mounted. Power source is from the PC, although the monitor has a back-up battery with a 5 year life. Component of a kit: N Comments: MULTiLOG temperature data loggers are also available as models with 8 or 16 sensors. See catalogue item numbers 0002121 and 0002123 respectively. ------------------------ Dear Colleagues, I think that it will be useful the proposed temperature alarm devices for alerting all responsibles in charge of the changes of temperature happened in the cold rooms. But, it will be better if an emergency power generator can be installed as additional power equipment, previewing it to start automatically in 3-5 second after the happened interruption of the public power supply. This solution can be more useful to guarantee the continuing recommended temperature in cold room, as well to alleviate the problems brought by prolonged power cuts especially at night and/or during weekends.
