[WHO AFRO DRAFT Document]: MCV 5-dose M&E Tool

In many African countries, healthcare workers (HCWs) can be hesitant to open measles and measles-rubella (MR) 10-dose vaccine vials due to fear of wastage or stockouts. This hesitancy results in missed opportunities to vaccinate children. Transitioning to 5-dose vials aims to increase the number of vaccinated children without increasing wastage. This self-monitoring tool uses data collected from country registers to track vaccination numbers, session frequency, and wastage. Monitoring the impact of 5-dose vials will help countries make evidence-based decisions and support efficient vaccine planning about measles/MR vaccines. It can also improve management of other vaccines, like yellow fever (YF).
