Kenya confirms first reported human case of rift valley fever in Marsabit county

The Ministry of Health has officially received a confirmed report of the first human case of Rift Valley Fever (RVF) in the country, originating from Turbi in North Horr Sub-county, Marsabit county. The ministry attributes the outbreak to the recent conclusion of El Niño rains, which has resulted in a notable rise in mosquito populations, consequently increasing the transmission of vector-borne diseases.
