Established by WHO and UNICEF in 1989, we are a global network of immunization professionals committed to strengthening immunization services by:

  • Building relationships
  • Sharing knowledge
  • Coordinating activities
  • and aligning priorities and goals

Our network has two complementary parts: the TechNet Conference, held every two years since 1990, and the TechNet-21.org website released in 1998. Learn more about our history.

Our goal is to improve immunization services by bringing together immunization professionals at every level, in every country, and from every sector. Learn more about our mission and vision.

TechNet is managed and overseen by WHO and UNICEF, with the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and in coordination with the Gavi Alliance’s immunization Supply Chain Steering Committee (iSC2). Learn more about our partners.

Our Network

TechNet members are immunization professionals working to improve immunization services in every country and at all levels – from global policy formulation and national programme management all the way to service delivery at subnational levels.

Our network of over 5,000 immunisation professionals come together on the TechNet-21 website to: Connect with each other and grow their professional network, Ask questions, provide answers, share knowledge, Work together in specialist communities of practice, Track upcoming events, such as webinars, training opportunities and global events, Search for guidance in our Immunisation Knowledge hub, Browse key publications on technical topics curated by global experts

Our communities of practice

TechNet hosts an array of specialist communities of practice in immunization. These are known as groups, and can be public, private or invitation only. Groups enable the specialist community to come together in a dedicated, customisable space to collaborate effectively according to their needs.

TechNet members can also create their own groups to support new communities of practice. When a member creates a group, they automatically become the group administrator and can then set-up the group as per their requirements and invite other members to join.

Technical topics curated by experts

Curated by TechNet members and partner organisations, the Topics area contains a rich array of technical information on hot issues in immunization; each Topic page provides the community with easy access to a hand-picked list of the most important resources on a given subject - from Covid-19 and CTC to home-based records and HPV vaccine introduction. Our members are adding new topics all the time.

The TechNet Conference

The TechNet Conference enables immunization professionals to meet and discuss the latest developments in immunization service delivery and supply chain. The conference gathers together key stakeholders in immunization programmes from around the world: managers of national immunization programmes, staff members from WHO and UNICEF, vaccine and cold chain equipment manufacturers, representatives from public health agencies, technical partners, and independent experts.

The conference is held every two years. The most recent TechNet Conference took place on October 20-21, 2020 as a virtual (online) event. The theme of the conference was: "Shaping a resilient and adaptive immunisation program”. Sessions were organised into four key themes: Immunization Supply Chain strategies, COVID-19, Effective vaccine management, and Cold chain equipment. Read the TechNet Conference 2020 Report or view the TechNet Conference 2020 page to watch session recordings and view presentations.

The next TechNet Conference will take place in 2023 in the Region of the Americas (PAHO). Please subscribe to the Weekly Digest or follow TechNet-21 on Twitter for more information on future conferences.
