The Wisconsin Department of Health Services IIS is looking to understand if and how IIS maintain vaccine lot numbers. When data is received from various systems, EHRs, VTrcKs, etc., it can come in varied formats, such as lot numbers sent with mixed, lower, or uppercase characters.

  • Do you normalize lot numbers in your IIS, or do you maintain the data as reported by the sender?
  • Is there any reason you do (or might) treat lot numbers such as Char123 differently from CHAR123?
  • Have you encountered other systems you interface with (e.g. VTrcKs, EHRs, etc.) where (un)normalized data would create issues with the interface?
  • Do you have other information you’d like to offer?

The Connecticut Department of Public Health IIS is inquiring about methods other jurisdictions have used, successfully or unsuccessfully, to identify change of address for adults and children in their IIS (within and beyond the jurisdiction). They are considering the USPS National Change of Address (NCOA) data set, as recommended in the AIRA Patient Status in Immunization Information Systems resource, to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date addresses. They would like to hear about this or other methods, and are interested in aspects including matching, data security, interface with the IIS, and cost.

There’s Still Time to Register for AIRA’s Discovery Session!

While summer is winding down and another academic year is upon us, don’t forget to add “Register for AIRA’s Discovery Session“ to your to-do list. Join us on Monday, August 28, 4–5 p.m. ET to learn about the Public Health Informatics Institute’s (PHII) new and updated resources.

Hear from Vijay Pathangi and Judith Kerr on how you can level up your IIS skills with the help of various resources that PHII has created for you. During the session, you will:

  • Learn how PHII supports public health programs
  • Expand your knowledge of PHII resources to support workforce development and technical assistance of IIS teams
  • Determine opportunities for you and your team to engage with PHII
  • Learn how PHII, AIRA and CDC work together to support IIS programs

There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the webinar.

Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email which contains links to add the meeting to your calendar.

If you’re unable to attend, this session will be recorded and available in the AIRA Repository.

Talk to Experts About Publishing

AIRA’s Publication Project Workgroup (PPW) was launched in 2022 to foster the increased publication of peer-reviewed IIS-related articles. As part of this effort, AIRA created a “collegial queries” email address, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. You can send publication-related questions to this email address, and subject matter experts (SMEs) from the PPW will respond. Any publication-related questions are welcome.
