TAKE ACTION

Information Requests

AIRA members can submit and review information requests—a circulation of questions to and answers from the community. Recent information requests can be found by using the “Information Requests” filter in the AIRA repository.

Information requests are viewable only by individual members and individuals affiliated with member and partner organizations. Just log in to view these valuable resources! The Minnesota Department of Health is looking for ideas to encourage and support improved timeliness of IIS reporting, and would be interested in IIS programs responses to the following questions:

  • What is your experience with mass vaccinators reporting influenza vaccine into your IIS?
  • Do you require providers to report vaccines within a specified timeframe? If so, what is the timeframe and what happens if providers report the bulk of their data outside of that timeframe?
  • Do privately-owned community vaccinators in your jurisdiction report electronically? If so, is it billing or clinical data?
  • In what ways have you supported provider organizations in transitioning from paper-based clinics to technology-based clinics? What barriers did the provider organization face and how did you support overcoming those barriers?

If you are willing to share information, please reach out to the Minnesota Department of Health and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by Friday, February 22 and don't forget to include your contact information for follow-up.

THE MONTHLIES

AIRA Board Spotlight

The board spotlight provides both AIRA staff and the IIS community the opportunity to learn a little about each AIRA board member. Every month, we will feature a different board member! This month, we are getting to know our governance chair, Dave McCormick, from the Indiana State Department of Health.

Q: What is one thing you would like to say to the IIS community?

Don’t underestimate the impact you are making! We tend to forget the important role we play in getting information out there.

Q: Tell us about your favorite or worst job in high school or college.

Working for Pizza Hut. The best pizza is free pizza, and I definitely ate my share.

Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining the AIRA board?

Jump in and get involved. The AIRA board is not only professionally rewarding, but it is personally rewarding and fun!

Q: Finish this sentence: “Wouldn’t it be great if…”
If we had a National Immunization Registry.

Q: What’s one thing you have learned from an AIRA workgroup or committee?
A lot of different things! Each group does a great job of looking at all the angles and making sure that everybody is represented and that they are meeting the needs of everyone involved.

Q: Share a person or experience that influenced your IIS career in a positive way.
Amy Metroka from NYC. She was president the first year I joined. She had such a breadth of knowledge and a mastery of the IIS community, it was inspiring.

Q: What was your favorite childhood treat?
A toasted peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich.

Q: If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?
Magens Bay

Q: Is there anything new your organization is working on/toward that you would like to share?
We are working on bringing in pharmacy to the VFC community so we aren’t creating disparity in publicly funded health. I think once we get pharmacy involved, we will see a better, more complete history.
