Register Now for AIRA’s March Discovery Session: Road to Expanding Consumer Access to Digital Credentials and the Implications for the IIS Community

Join us on Monday, March 24, from 4 to 5 p.m. ET for an engaging Discovery Session where we explore Michigan’s innovative approach to evaluating the issuance of digital birth credentials using digital trust technology. In this session, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) will share insights into the benefits of issuing vital records as digitally verifiable credentials, gained through testing. Learn how digital birth credentials can streamline access, enhance security, and offer greater convenience for the issuing office, parents, and the school systems that rely on these records.

This presentation will cover:

  • An overview of NAPHSIS: A member-based organization that provides national advocacy, technical assistance and training, educational programming, and resources to assist and promote the use of vital records
  • Expedited access and enhanced security: The ways digital birth credentials provide faster access, improved security, and greater convenience compared to traditional paper documents
  • Best practices: Key strategies for successfully issuing digital credentials within the vital records ecosystem
  • Challenges and lessons learned: Real-world insights from Discovery Sessions, including challenges encountered and lessons learned from an educational pilot use case

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from Michigan’s experience and join in a lively Q&A discussion following the presentation!

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with calendar links for easy access. If you can’t make it, a recording will be available in the AIRA Repository. We hope you’ll join us on March 24!

Enhance Data Quality with M&I’s DAR Content Area

Are you looking for a no-cost opportunity to explore the quality of patient-level and vaccine-level data within your IIS? AIRA, CDC, and Measurement for Assessment and Certification Advisory Workgroup (MACAW) invite all IIS to participatein the Measurement and Improvement (M&I) initiative's Data at Rest (DAR) content area.

Since its launch into Assessment in February 2022, DAR focuses on evaluating completeness, validity, and timeliness of IIS data for 0 to 2-year-olds. Participating IIS can benchmark their data against national and community-set quality standards, access IIS-wide and provider-level reports to drive improvement efforts, and achieve key milestones aligned with the Immunization Program Operations Manual (IPOM) Chapter D activity to “analyze provider and IIS-level patient demographic and vaccination data.”

In 2024, 25 jurisdictions participated in the DAR Assessment, and we invite you to join them as testing for 2025 gets underway. AIRA staff are available to provide technical assistance and consultation to support your efforts. Most IIS complete the DAR process within one week.

To kick off a new year of testing, AIRA has updated IIS participation materials, now available in the AIRA Repository.
