Hello,
At the close of each year, I try to take a moment to look back on all the big events that happened. This usually includes some personal and professional milestones, birthdays and anniversaries, maybe a trip or two. I couldn’t have imaged at this time last year what I’d be reflecting on for 2020. Not to mention that the last 12 months feels more like a couple years combined!
With all the major hurdles, curveballs, loss, panic, and more, one thing I’ve been able to count on is the amazing work of the IIS community and our partners in public health. You’ve pulled together and shown the citizens of your jurisdictions and national leaders that immunization information systems work, can and should be leveraged, and are tried and true systems that are here to stay.
I know there’s a lot more work to do and things will be even busier for a while. But I also feel a sense of hope for the year ahead, especially as more COVID-19 vaccine starts to circulate. AIRA staff are here for you and are very much by your side as we navigate our current situation and as new challenges come up. We’ve appreciated your continued involvement with AIRA activities, such as the National Meeting Webinar Series, Discovery Sessions, and workgroups. Your input on the work we do and expertise is invaluable, and we appreciate you giving us your time with everything else going on.
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy. I also hope you’re able to take some time to reflect, relax, and safely spend time (in person or virtually) with the ones who mean the most to you.
