Recently Published Journal Articles by JSI Staff and Projects

The Ethiopia Data Use Partnership shared its learning from the Capacity Building and Mentorship Program in several articles in a GHSP supplement, Advancing Learning Health Systems: Lessons from the African Health Initiative. Articles focused on data quality and use; maternal service coverage; and lessons learned from capacity building to improve health information systems, among other topics.

Building Healthy Cities found that systems thinking, which is a way to investigate patterns and interactions across a system (like a city), is a better approach for the urban context than a linear, traditional program approach. The project published a 5-article special section about this technique in the August issue of the Journal of Urban Health, focused on the methods, leadership response and experiences in 3 of BHC’s priority cities: Indore, India; Makassar, Indonesia; and Da Nang, Vietnam.

The Inter-agency Working Group (IAWG) for capacity strengthening, with facilitation from JSI and Global ChangeLabs, recently published two articles on Gates Open Research that explore the system drivers of gender inequity in development assistance and the critical barriers to sustainable capacity strengthening in global health.

Challenges and Opportunities on Malaria Data: Global Perspectives and Insights from Ghana and Malawi
