Letter from Executive Director

By Walter Proper on October 25th, 2019

Dear Colleagues/Friends,

Greetings from Abuja! I hope that you are all keeping well.

I have news to share so I am just going to get to it!

My last day as the ED IAPHL is at the end of this month. I want to start by acknowledging funding support for IAPHL from USAID and JSI as well from sponsors such as ASCM, PSA, Empower, i+ solutions and Bocconi University. I think I speak on behalf of the IAPHL members, when I say a big thank you to USAID and JSI for this genuinely appreciated support to IAPHL since its inception in 2007. Because of this, IAPHL continues to be the go-to platform for peer to peer learning in health supply chain, ensuring that many public health supply chain operators and managers have the information and knowledge they need to improve the supply chain in their countries and globally.

Unfortunately, funding for this financial year was not as much as we hoped. As a result, management has made significant changes in order to ensure that this platform continues to serve members. The Abuja office will close this October; the IAPHL headquarters will now be out of the JSI offices in Arlington, Virginia USA.

At this time, a new part time executive director has been named.  I am happy to announce that Walter Proper will take on this position.  As of this date, the other member of the much smaller team has not been found:  the global community manager.  Please continue to contact IAPHL through the This email address is being protected from spambots. I especially want to thank the team here in the Abuja office (Iember and Joan) who have worked so hard to make this a terrific journey for us all. Many thanks to the Advisory Group who have also given us outstanding support. Thank you to each member of IAPHL for your kind welcome and support over the past two years! Because of you and my team here, I had an amazing time learning to, and eventually helping to build up the IAPHL. At over 7200 members, we have grown tremendously during this period. Country chapters have more than tripled: from 7 to 22. Many, many thanks to all the country chapter leaders for the hard work they continue to put in!

As a final ask, please reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. I hope that you will continue to actively support this outstanding IAPHL platform and look forward to reading good things about our association!

See you around!

With warm regards,

Liz
