March 2022 SnapShots Newsletter

Hello,

Welcome to spring and the first 2022 edition of SnapShots! SnapShots is AIRA’s quarterly newsletter that highlights the progress, best practices, and accomplishments of IIS. This edition is no exception. We had the pleasure of interviewing Amy Metroka, who recently retired as director of the New York City Citywide Immunization Registry. Amy worked in the IIS and immunization communities for nearly three decades and says she is “most proud of IIS ability to engage clinicians on the front lines of vaccinating people everywhere to get their patients’ immunization histories and recommendations in real time while the patient is present.” Read more about Amy’s lasting legacy and what she has planned for her retirement.

You will also find some great information about the #AIRA2022 National Meeting coming to a screen near you in just under a month on April 26 and 27! If you haven’t already, don’t forget to register by April 1 to receive a personalized snack box to enjoy during the meeting.

Rounding out this edition of SnapShots is an article from the Public Health Informatics Institute about its Transitions Learning Community that supports programs transitioning to a new IIS platform or implementing other IT transitions, and AIRA’s technology blog, Tech Corner. Our monthly blog is dedicated to giving public health experts resources, tools, and guidance they need to use and incorporate modern technology. Blog entries are posted on the AIRA website each month and featured quarterly in SnapShots.

We would love to showcase your work in an upcoming edition of SnapShots! We accept articles on a rolling basis, so please email SnapShots Editor Katie Reed and AIRA Communications Specialist Lonnie Peterson with any articles or ideas for future articles
