Hello,

Registration for the first module of AIRA’s Interoperability Course, Connecting Systems, is now open. The course is comprised of a series of modules to orient public health professionals in the IIS community toward interoperability concepts.

The Connecting Systems module is six-weeks long and includes pre-recorded weekly videos for participants, six live instruction and discussion sessions via Zoom, and homework exercises and live quizzes. Nathan Bunker, Senior Technical Project Manager, will teach participants about the essential theory of how computer systems connect.

Topics covered will include:

  • Information technology
  • Networks and connections
  • Internet and the World Wide Web
  • Transport and the CDC Web Services Definition Language (WSDL)
  • Hashing and encryption
  • Keys and certificates
  • Security threats and guidance

This module is geared toward IIS onboarding teams, HL7 specialists/analysts, IIS/immunization program leadership, IIS vendor/implementer staff, and electronic health record vendor/implementer staff. We understand this is a busy time for everyone and we ask that participants plan to attend at least five of the six live sessions, dedicate at least two hours a week to review the recorded course videos, and complete the homework prior to each live class.

The deadline to enroll is October 29, 2021. Enrollment will be limited to 80 registrants. Register now!

Please email Assiatou Diallo with any questions.

Thank you.
