Microplanning and risk communication techniques were used to carry out high-quality vaccination campaigns in El Salvador, increasing vaccination coverage (CV) for COVID-19 and other essential childhood 82% in 8 departments.

An inter-institutional support mechanism was used to generate equitable and timely access to vaccines and consequently the improvement of CV in areas of difficult access, in addition to working on complementary educational actions to benefit the health of the population. Vaccination was achieved for vulnerable groups with difficult access to the health system, using the opportunity to complete child vaccination schemes in mega-days on weekends when more than 500 vaccinators visited nearly 220,000 houses.
