Welcome to the new Immunization @JSI, a quarterly newsletter focused on the global immunization work happening at JSI. For several decades, vaccines have helped to prevent diseases and keep populations healthy. JSI is committed to assisting countries to build equitable and strong health systems that support people’s well-being. In recognition of World Immunization Week, our inaugural edition highlights examples of our work in immunization and demonstrates how vaccination gives an opportunity for a #LongLifeForAll.

Improving Routine Immunization Programs in Urban Areas
Our interventions for urban settings are building sustainable and equitable immunization systems around the world. In DRC, JSI has been providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health to design and implement strategies to reduce the number of zero-dose and under-vaccinated children. In Haiti, JSI increased pentavalent 3 coverage from 26.3% to 73% in high-risk urban communities in Port-au-Prince; decreased the number of zero-dose children from 6,000 to 1,050; and decreased average caregiver waiting time in facilities from 139 minutes to 50 minutes.
