#MakeYourMark: Supporting Older Americans this Month and Beyond

May is Older Americans Month, now more than ever, building healthy communities for all must include the older people in our communities.

Supporting Healthy Aging for All

Why do we care about aging? In many parts of the world, people are living longer lives. Every day in the United States, about 10,000 people turn 65, and by 2050, the number of Americans age 65 and older will nearly double. This demographic shift, along with the impact of COVID-19, has broad implications for economic, health, and social policy, yet our existing systems are not configured for this dramatic change. Communities, states, and national governments need to explore and implement new systems to meet the needs of the population and improve the health outcomes of older people.
