The AIRA National Meeting provides a platform to share the progress taking place throughout the immunization information system (IIS) community. We are looking forward to learning from you! Submit your abstract to be considered to present or to lead a group discussion during a breakout session. The call for abstracts will close January 8, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET, and speaker notifications will go out February 13, 2023. More guidance regarding the abstract submission process can be found by visiting the Call for Abstract Overview flyer. The Board Spotlight is a new addition to the Monthly Update, providing both AIRA staff and the IIS community the opportunity to learn a little about each AIRA board member. Every month, we will feature a different board member! This month, we are getting to know board president Mary Woinarowicz from the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services. |
Q: What is one thing you would like to say to the IIS community? We can do hard things! Take time to celebrate all that we have accomplished in the last two years and be proud of the work that we have done.
Q: Tell us about your favorite or worst job in high school or college. The worst job was when I worked as a sorter for bulk mail at the post office. I had to feed all the magazines and junk mail into the sorter—it was less than riveting.
Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining the AIRA board? Just do it! It’s a wonderful experience, you get to meet a lot of people, and you get more involved in the IIS community.
Q: Finish this sentence: “Wouldn’t it be great…” If donuts had zero calories!
Q: What’s one thing you have learned from an AIRA workgroup or committee? I’ve learned a lot from SISC, like now I know how to read an HL7 message, which is always important.
Q: Favorite childhood Halloween costume? I was a bumblebee! Best part was my mom had made it big enough so I could have my snowsuit on underneath.
Q: Share a person or experience that influenced your IIS career in a positive way. The AIRA board and getting involved have been really positive for me and my career. I clearly don’t want to leave it, which is why I keep coming back!
Q: Favorite breakfast or late-night snack food? Oreos for both!
Q: Is there anything new your organization is working on/toward that you would like to share? North Dakota just finished developing a really fantastic data quality dashboard through Power BI that has metrics for all of the program managers in our immunization program and data for COVID providers. It encompasses COVID data entry, non-COVID data entry, VFC providers, non-VFC providers. This dashboard will help us keep an eye on what’s going on with our data overall. |
