Pneumococcal and rotavirus vaccine cost calculators for middle-income countries
PATH’s new Vaccine Cost Calculators for pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) and rotavirus vaccine aim to help country-level decision-makers specifically in middle-income countries compare products and estimate vaccination program costs for different vaccine options.
These simple, Excel-based tools aim to help with decision-making to support the introduction and continued use of these important vaccines. Both calculators allow users to explore up to four different vaccine options at a time and are available in English, French, and Spanish.
The new calculators enable users to compare the estimated cold chain volume and financial costs of PCV or rotavirus vaccination programs with each vaccine product available in the global market (including those no longer offered to Gavi-eligible countries) annually and for a total period of five years.
Users also can add a domestically produced vaccine option that is not available in the global market, as well as compare costs for up to three different scenarios of multi-vaccine use since some countries may plan to use more than one product at the same time.
