Immunization outcomes depend on behavior, including caregivers seeking services, providers following protocols, and communities trusting the system. Yet social and behavior change initiatives are rarely institutionalized or consistently funded, often buried in budget lines without clear accountability. JSI joined Africa CDC and UNICEF to address these challenges. Together, the group worked with Ministries of Health and Finance across Malawi, Burundi, Uganda, and The Gambia to develop a standardized costing framework, budget coding tools, and a practical institutionalization scorecard, giving countries what they need to fund social and behavior change as a routine part of their health systems.
