Dear colleagues,
We are all concerned about the impact of Covid on immunization as the pandemic evolves. The need for up-to-date data is high. Going forward our goal is to harmonize the ongoing efforts of data collection on the impact from all regions, but to have a quick idea of how immunization services have been affected in the month of May, we have put together a second pulse poll link here:
In English: Pulse Poll Immunization May 2020
In French: Situation de la vaccination – sondage mai 2020
We ask you to share with country officers and in your network as you find it appropriate.
This poll was developed by a monitoring group with members from WHO, UNICEF, GAVI secretariat, CDC, BMGF, Sabin’s Boost initiative and with contribution from IVAC and of course all the Regional officies. The survey will be shared by these partners and through Technet, Sabin’s Boost initiative (ex “International Immunization Manager Association”), and possibly the Scholar network.
Results from the first poll done in April were used for advocacy, in a pressconference with Tedros, Seth and Henrietta the 22nd of May to inform the FAQ and to write and plan for further guidance on immunization. Also, the Webinar on Infection Prevention and Control for vaccination that took place last Friday was the result of the need brought forward in that poll. A summary of the results of the first Pulse Poll was published in the Global Immunization Newsletter https://www.who.int/immunization/gin/en/ (March-April issue).
In the medium term monitoring on the impact, two immunization indicators will be collected in the Covid-19 response monitoring framework at WHO for Pillar 9 on essential services; DTP3 monthly coverage and proportion of SIA/campaigns affected by COVID by month.
Thank-you in advance for helping us share the link to the survey,
Ann
