Since its first offering in 2004, we have made more than 15,000 km to date. It is like driving from Geneva to the Kamchatka peninsula, Russia or to Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
The 2020 course had to be canceled due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. This course is brought to you by its creators Extensio et Progressio and Tip Kurumu (Türkiye) and will take place in İzmir, Aydın, Kaş, and Antalya, Türkiye from 25 to 30 September 2023, a 633 km of a learning journey.
It is the only course that brings you to the heart of the action in pharmaceutical cold chain management. We visit different level cold chain facilities along the route, conduct risk assessments of procedures, discuss in groups, and come to conclusions. Nobody lectures anybody in this course. There are no set or typical classroom arrangements. All group discussions take place in rest areas, restaurants, and cafes - usually in semi-open or open areas.
A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Pharmaceutical Secure Supply Chain Management on Wheels (PSSCMoW) is an experiential learning event for learners to develop their knowledge and skills enabling them to critically evaluate a pharmaceutical supply chain system and improve their associated supervisory skills. The course encourages participants to make direct observations at the storage, warehousing, distribution, and healthcare facilities that they visit as they physically travel with mentors by bus down the length of the supply chain. This approach is designed to show participants how the theoretical background of pharmaceutical supply chain management is applied in a variety of storage, distribution, and healthcare facilities. It is a practical application of experiential learning theory.
We take a maximum of 15 participants on the bus, half from the industry and half from the public sector. The bus crew, Umit Kartoglu (President and CEO, Extensio et Progressio, Switzerland), Dr. Kelly Moore (President and CEO, immunize.org, USA), Alan Kennedy (Executive Director, GDP-UCI, UK), Dr. Hakan Gonendik (Tour guide, Tip Kurumu, Türkiye), Muhammet Sengoz (cartoonist on the bus, Topkapi University, Türkiye), and Gencer Yurttas (photographer on the bus, Narphotos, Türkiye) would like to welcome you on board. Please note that seats are filled pretty quickly, and the maximum number of participants to be accepted is 15 (already have half the bus filled from the 2020 course applications).
